Despite my foreboding (and veracious) statement at the end of the last post (how appropriate!) in Joni's words "(America my friend) we can remember all the good things you are". Two of the comtemporary "good things" of America are Jim Wallis and Nancy Pelosi.
Just when we were beginning to think that the adherents of the religion of Americanism had successfully hijacked the name-tag "Christianity" and appropriated it for themselves, Jim Wallis came along with a sturdy and principled attack on the neocons and the religious right. GOOD FOR YOU, JIM! You've shown moronic love-children like Bush what it really means to be born again, and that Our Saviour did his work among the poor rather than among Texan oil magnates.
As for Ms. Pelosi, although her pro-Israeli stance is regrettable (although I suppose it's necessary in order to secure a minimal share of the Zionist vote) she certainly makes a refreshing change from Georgy Porgy learning his A B C on the State of the Union razzamatazz with John Bolton as teacher.
